Make Your Own Beats - Hip Hop Production Tips & Techniques

There are a lot of talented recording artists that just can’t seem to get there career moving due to the lack of access to professional high quality rap beats, r&b beats and club beats.

Let me be the first to tell you…..Don’t give up.

Take matter into your own hands even if you do not have any natural born talent playing an instrument.

Step #1:

If you own a computer, then you are closer to creating your own beats than you think and all you need to make your first original beat is persistence, practice and small understanding of music basics.

Step #2:

The next step in the beat making process is to master the art of rhythms and this can be done by listening to different genres of music and identifying them rhythms by humming its tone.

After you take time to identify several types of rhythms the next step is purchase a decent keyboard that will allow you to create music sequences and that can also be used in conjunction with beat making software like Reason or Garage Band.

Step #3:

To speed up the process is understanding how to make your first beat you should try learning how to play a simple song like "Happy Birthday" on a keyboard or piano and one of the best teachers can be at ReadMusicFast.com.

Alternative Step:

If you are not financially in the place to purchase small amounts of studio equipment then you should check out Sonic Producer Pro which allows you to create rap beats and r&b beats directly from your computer without having to purchase any equipment what so ever.

If you want to bypass the first 3 steps and the alternative steps given, then I suggest you check out royalty free rap beats offered in membership form. A couple websites you can check out is Mix Me Entertainment, Beats365 and Beats2Rap2.

Gangsta Rap Beats

Many upcoming music producers get confused about what style of beat they are really making. This confusion has come about because west coast, dirty south, midwest and east coast rappers have started to blend their albums with rap beats from producers all over the country.

It is not uncommon to hear Snoop Dogg rapping over a beat that was produced by a Dirty South music producer of Jay-Z rapping to a track made by a West Coast music producer like Dr. Dre.

In this article we are going to cover the basic elements that make up a “Gangsta Rap Beat”.

So what is a Gangsta Rap Beat?

Gangsta Rap Beats first originated during the Ice-T era. Yes I said Ice-T.
He was one of the first Gangsta Rappers in the music business. Shortly after that Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube and MC Ren formed a group called NWA that took gangsta rap to a new level and that's where the Gangsta Rap Beat style of music was born.

Basically gangsta rap beats are very hard hitting slow methodical beats that give you the feeling of thug drama or danger. Before creating your first gangsta rap beat I would suggest that you go back and listen to some old Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, C-BO, E-40, Scarface and Tupac albums to get a good idea. Make sure you listen carefully to the elements that are being used.

Below I’ve listed the basic elements of a gangsta rap beat.

Elements of Gangsta Rap Beats
Horns
High Hat
Open High Hat
Snare Drums
808 Drum Kicks
Bells
Piano
Deep Bass Guitar
Spanish Guitar
Pizz Violins
Synths
Chimes

You can also check a hot new beat making software called Sonic Producer Pro.

I reviewed this software package and it has tons of gangsta beat elements in it. You can also check out these rap beat websites to buy gangsta rap beats at a low price. Mix Me Entertainment, Beats365 and Beats2Rap2.

Exclusive Rap Beats For Sale

With so many rap beat website popping up, recording artists now have more choice than every when it comes to buying rap beats for their projects.

Now recording artists have two options to choose from.

Non-Exclusive rap beats (or “lease” beats) offer you the opportunity to grab a hot beats at a low cost. One major drawback of this option is that the beat will be licensed to hundreds even thousands of recording artists that are also looking to lower their production costs. Back in the day this option was not available, recording artists had to pay rap beat makers hundreds even thousands of dollars for a beat.

Prices range from: $5 - $30

Exclusive rap beats (or “one owner” beats) offer you with the opportunity take your project to the next level. Unlike non-exclusive beats you will be the sole owner of the beats and never have to worry about hearing your beats played my thousands of people on MySpace. The production company or rap beat maker transfers the ownership of the beat over to you but usually at a high cost than non-exclusive rap beats. In most cases, this could cost hundreds even thousands of dollars.

Royalty payments are typically shared 50/50% between both parties.

The good thing about exclusive rap beats is that you will have access to the Pro-Tools or Digital Performer files to do a professional mix and add additional sounds and instruments to it.

Prices range from: $200 - $20,000

So before you start your next recording project figure out which licensing options works best for you.

How To Read Music In One Day

That’s right it’s true! You too can read music in one day.

I must admit, when I came across this website I thought it was a complete joke but after looking at the program I was completely hooked.

With so many people wanting to have a career in the music industry, the first fundamental step is to learn how to read and understand music. I often here music recordings from so called music producers and find that a majority of their production work is out of key or out of pitch.

With this new method of learning music you will bypass the slow, boring, drawn out process that it used to learn a song. I

With this program you will learn flats and sharps like a pro. You will also know 3/4 and 4/4 time. The two basic meters that comprise 90% of all songs you hear today. You will also learn
about unisons (one note), intervals (two notes) and chords (3 or more notes) and the 4 main types of chords as we learn harmony.

Here’s what you will learn:

Melody (the tune of a song)
Rhythm (the pulse or beat of a song)
Harmony (the chords that support the melody)

It’s also taught by a 40 year professional in the business that has taught thousands of people how to play music.

So if you are an upcoming music producer I suggest you check this amazing product out today. Click here to go directly to the site

Tips For Purchasing Rap Beats Online

Are you an upcoming rapper or singer looking for affordable high quality rap beats? Are you looking to become the next Drake, Ludacris, Jay-Z or Lil Wayne? If so, getting your hands on professionally produced rap beats is what you need to get to the next level and get noticed fast. Many record companies are moving away from spending thousands of dollars to develop and produce an artist. Most want full songs that only have to be professionally mixed. This is because recording budgets have gotten smaller and smaller.

In case you didn’t know, there are a ton of websites out there that offer affordable high-quality rap beats at a low price. Many offer rap beats as low as $5, while others charge a monthly fee of $20 to $30 dollars and allow you to download hundred of beats 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Most offer rap beats, hip hop beats, r&b beats that appeal to every style of rap.

Often I give advice to recording artists to know what type of beat you are looking for before you spend money on junk. In many cases, I advise them to be open to different types of beats to expand their album quality. Most record labels are look for versatility. A good way to do this is to sample the beats you are thinking about buying and sing or rap over them for 00:30 seconds. If it compliments you then I suggest adding them to your short list of beat purchases.

You also want to pay close attention as to how the beat is mixed. If you buy a low quality, low volume beats it will show in your final production. You also want to pay close attention to the licensing and refund policy of the site you are buying beats from. Many artists often finish a full project and find out they have to pay a high licensing fee to use the beat.

So before you jump into the world of buying beats online make sure you explore all the available websites and programs.

How To Sell Rap Beats The Secure Way

TRADEBIT vs. E-JUNKIE

With so many rap beat products setting out to make their mark in the online world of rap beats, many of them are falling victim to online music thieves and most of them find it very difficult to stop these online pirates from jacking them for their products.

So what is a music producer to do if he/she wants to keep their rap beats secure online?

There are two alternatives but the first I would not recommend.

Deliver Process #1:

1. Set up a website with a landing page that offers all of your rap beats, sound kits and other products.

2. Sign up for a PayPal account and then create buttons for each product being offered.

3. Set up a secured file on your server and direct the customer to that download file upon completion of payment.

Delivery Process #2:

1. Register for a TradeBit account.

Benefits:
  • They offer unlimited storage
  • No Monthly Fee.
  • Weekly Payouts

Rihanna's Nude Photos?? Maybe NOT....

In case you have been under a rock for the last few months, Rihanna and Chris Brown
have been all over the news and the latest bombshell to hit the Rihanna camp is nude photos
of her or what is supposedly Rihanna.

Our team has reviewed tons of websites and can say that while the photos appear to be
Rihanna no one can be certain.

Now the biggest question on everyone's mind is.....who leaked the supposed photos and why?

Could it be Chris Brown's camp after seeing a photo of Rihanna in Barbados with an old
boyfriend?

Could it be that she has finally turned her back on Chris Brown and he decided
to lash out at her with damaging photos.

A total of seven photos shows popped up on the internet with various angle shots, two
of which are clearly Rihanna or a very professionally edited version of her face.

Late Friday Rihanna's record label reportedly sent out a letter to a website that published the photos demanding that they be removed, calling the photos a violation of "the Artists rights.

You can check it them out and be the judge.
